Item shop revamp in update 4.10

Funcom’s approach to monetizing AoC has been despicably greedy ever since they first introduced the item shop about a year after launch. But with today’s changes, they have surpassed my wildest fears. All vanity items and a great many other things have been removed, prices on many of the remaining items have been increased dramatically, and you can now buy full sets of T3 armor as well as treasure chests which have a chance of dropping T4 and T5 raid tokens (rare as well as common ones).

And meanwhile the community manager has the unspeakable, bald-faced impudence to say that they only “streamlined the item shop and removed some clutter”!

Fuck off and die, Failcom, you worthless, pathetic excuse for a game company.

My eyes almost popped out when I saw the T3 sets. I still enjoyed the nights raiding to acquire the few pieces I managed to get, but this does leave a bitter taste.

Well said, my friend, especially the last sentence – I think it summarize thoughts of most of us.

Lollll love this cyn, but no mention about ethram fail and its need for fixation? 😀

Well, a somewhat broken raid boss is not exactly an unusual phenomenon in this game. Many raid fights have been broken at various times, often for long periods at a time. That can easily be fixed at any point. Selling raid gear for real money in the item shop is a completely different thing, however.

Stop subbing and don’t buy anything from their shitty shop. I stopped giving Funcom any money a very long time ago. Tell everyone you know to also stop. Funcom really doesn’t deserve to survive but they’re a giant cockroach.

Seems like they didn’t learn from the massive clusterfuck that was TSW. Fucking over subs in AOC reallocating resources to try to make something happen that was never going to and then almost going bankrupt as a result. But they still pull the same shit of chasing profit over providing anything that even looks like value.

I loved AOC I played from launch until a year ago, and then I just couldn’t justify putting up with this kind of bullshit any longer.
Fuckem I hope they lose everything.

I dont intend to support the way funcom deals with their customers or the fact that they have t3 armor in itemshop for alot of money,

They could have added another set and made it as strong as t3 to make t3 still viable.

However, its not as bad, raidfinder was added, a feature i belive is a good one. It somehow learns players to follow tacticks or understand them. And with all the content currently in Aoc it takes so long for new players getting anywhere. Now that we got T6 its a long way there from fresh 80.

What we see now is T3 and partways khitai being more and more a part of the old world.

It will help guilds getting new, geared and more raiders for the higher challenging riad.

About the item shop chests, if they drop T5 tokens I find that really annoying.

I’m a bit skeptical about how much the raid finder raids teach people about tactics. Many mechanics have been nerfed so hard for the RF that people just ignore them – e.g. in the Yothians fight, you can tank them enraged because they hit so weakly and the enrage buff is just +50% instead of 500% – so all the complicated stuff about how to organize the DPSing of the three mobs is completely ignored.

And where the mechanics haven’t been nerfed like that, people wipe helplessly until the wipe buff stacks up so high that they can ignore mechanics anyway. So they haven’t really learned anything there either.

…and they nerfed it again in the last hotfix 🙂

Of all the indicators that funcom is only monetizing this game to destroy it, your departure is the most telling. When a player so committed and loyal as you and your blog over the course of the game’s life cannot abide by the changes, it shows that the decision making has become irreversibly bad. I’m sure they will milk the last of the game wealth as the community gets driven away, which is what they want. Really sad to see you go Cy, let us know which game you end up in and we’ll stick around.

I’m not going anywhere, how the heck did you get that idea? I just think that Funcom is a worthless pile of shit, but then I’ve thought so for many years now and that hasn’t stopped me playing yet.
